TL DR: yes it works, just turn on v-sync and download a FOV change file since you cant change FOV in this game. You might occasionally get a crash, but I only had 3 the whole game.
I personally just kept V-sync on the whole playthrough and didnt even notice any side effects. Play through the cutscene, and you can switch back to V-sync off. The game will play fine, but, if you get a cutscene that plays and then boots you to the main menu, you will need to go into options and enable V-sync. Public beta branch will not work with the FOV fix file. The absolute best way to play this is to leave the game on the default version, download the FOV fix you can find with a quick search, unless you want to play with 45 FOV (Four.
